Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Obstratics and Gynecology is an allied subject included in the syllabus of B.H.M.S. The subject consists of following parts :

  • 1. Obstratics : Study of a female interns of normal and abnormal Pregnancy, labour, and puerperium.
  • 2. Gynecology :Study of diseases related to the female reproductive system.
  • 3. Neonatology : Study of infant care and the various disorders of neonates and infant.
  • 4. Homoeopathic : Study of various homoeopathic medicines in relation to Therapeutics Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Neonatology.

The syllabus is distributed in to II B.H.M.S. and III B.H.M.S. II B.H.M.S. contains minimum 75 theoretical lectures and 75 clinical / tutorial classes. III B.H.M.S. contains minimum 150 theoretical lectures (100 allied + 50 Homoeo. therapeutics) and 75 clinical / tutorial classes.

The students are taught with the tools of Torso, Models, Chart, Specimens, Instruments, etc. present in the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. All the above tools of teaching are displayed in the department so that students can get the keen knowledge in the subject. As this clinical subject is quite interesting, to make it more exciting, monthly seminars are also conducted in the whole academic year. According to CCH norms, one Professor, one Reader and one Lecturer are appointed by the trust of the college to get a good result in theory as well as in the practical with an indeed knowledge of the subject so that in future, students can diagnose the case correctly. Hence students have their regular clinical classes in OPD and IPD of Satyanarayan Hospital of the college.

To impart a fruitful lecture, the faculty of the department has the facility of department library, so that the quality of teaching can be maintained.

Examination in this subject includes three theory papers and one practical examination. The theory paper consist of paper-I – Obstetrics, paper-II-Gynecology, paper-III-Homoeopathic therapeutics. The practical examination shall consist of clinical examination and oral. The case studies reports of the students carried out during the course shall also be considered for the oral examination. For being a Homoeopathic Physician, one should have the knowledge of scope and limitation of Homoeopathy in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Hence it included in the syllabus of B.H.M.S. The all clinical classes is carried in the Satyanarayan Hospital of the college. The college also provides the facility of college bus for students as a means of transport.
